Gr 5 Salmon Project

May 6, 2022

Every year for many, Mr. Batt's grade 5 class has hosted the Salmon Enhancement Project. In the Winter the eggs arrive from the hatchery. The students then monitor the water and temperature for the hatching. This takes several weeks and lots of patience. After the eggs have hatched the salmon continue to be reared and looked after in the tank in the classroom. When they reach a certain size and age the students take a field trip to Bateman Park where they are released. Each student gets to release their fry into the stream and learn about the natural habitat of the fish when they are young. This year was another successful batch.
